The University Park Undergraduate Association is trying to gather students for Rally in the Rotunda, an annual event in Harrisburg in which students rally for additional state funding.
"I think it's very important for students to go and let state representatives hear their voice," Hillary Lewis, UPUA government affairs chairwoman, said.
Lewis said that Rally in the Rotunda is tentatively scheduled for March 20, and UPUA and the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments are planning to hold an information session near the end of February in the HUB-Robeson Center.
Students will be able to sign up to participate in the rally during that time.
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) is also planning to send representatives to Rally in the Rotunda, but Nick Stathes, USG president, said that it is also important to consider that the reason for high tuition could lie with the administration, not with the state's funding.
"The real problem with tuition is poor spending decisions on the part of the administration," Stathes added.
UPUA will hold its first official meeting of the semester, which is open to the public, at 8 p.m. Sunday in 302 HUB.
"The main thing is the bylaws are finished, and they are going to be brought up to be passed so they can go into effect," UPUA media relations director Mallory Gold said.
Gold said that UPUA members would be able to propose amendments to the bylaws, but they contained nothing controversial and amendments would likely not be necessary.
"They [the internal development committee] worked a total of 24 hours on those bylaws," Gold added. "They're pretty hammered out."
Gold also said that UPUA's facilities committee is currently working on trying to get vending machines in the White Building for student usage.
Students would be able to make purchases from those machines with LionCash.
