Wilkins leaves for Wisconsin job

Collegian Staff Writer

After a ninth consecutive Big Ten women's soccer title this past season, head coach Paula Wilkins announced that she will be stepping down from her position at Penn State to take the head coaching job at Big Ten rival Wisconsin, according to a press release from Penn State athletics.

After a season full of adversity, Wilkins seemed to be at the top of her coaching game in her sixth season as head coach at Penn State. She helped lead the Nittany Lions to the rare Big Ten double - winning both the regular season and Big Ten tournament titles. The Lions went 18-5-3 despite injuries to goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and midfielder Zoe Bouchelle during their conference-championship season.

However, Wilkins will leave Penn State without achieving the goal of bringing the program its first national championship.
