We don't want to allow an alcohol-free club to open because it would promote alcohol.
Does anybody else see something wrong with that statement?
That was how I interpreted State College Borough Council President Cathy Dauler's reluctance in letting Frost open because she was concerned that it would broaden the downtown alcohol environment ("Icy reply given to club Frost," Jan. 23).
If anything, the State College Borough Council should be supportive of an idea like Frost.
It will be an over-18 alcohol-free club available on the weekends; it provides an alternative for underage students.
The council is being completely hypocritical by saying they are against promoting an alcohol environment while at the same time they are putting down any potential success of Frost because they will not provide alcohol.
Having Frost finally open gives State College a fresh and different alternative.
This club Frost has nothing to do with drinking; it has more to do with a dancing atmosphere.
As for the State College Borough Council for expressing doubt in Frost's success, how about letting them finally open and maybe everyone can find out.
