Senior diver Alderman receives weekly honor
Senior Mike Alderman of the men's diving team was named the Big Ten Diver of the Week yesterday after a weekend in which he earned first place finishes on both springboards in Saturday's dual meet win over Rutgers. This is the third time that Alderman has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week this year.
The defending Big Ten champion on the one-meter board, Alderman picked up his fifth and sixth first place finishes on the season on Saturday and his third win of the year on each board. His score of 362.45 on the three-meter was high highest of the year and his score of 335.63 on the one-meter was his second-highest. Both were NCAA Zone A qualifying scores, although Alderman already previously made qualifying scores in both the one and three-meter events earlier this year.
Alderman and the Nittany Lions will swim and dive at the Shamrock Invitational this weekend hosted by Notre Dame, which also features West Virginia, Oakland and Connecticut. It will be their final meet prior to Big Ten's, which will be held next month.
