The Minor White, a melodic indie-pop band with a heavy piano/keyboard focus, has played several Roustabout! shows,
"We love doing the Roustabout!," Kyle Wall said. "It's definitely the best thing the State College music scene has going -- both the local bands like the Bullet Parade and the Fiddlercrabs and bands that come in from everywhere else."
It is also a time of change for the band, which recently shifted from a six-piece to a five-piece.
Additionally, the group will be releasing its first EP, tentatively titled the daily vacation, via Scranton-based label Prairie Queen Records, sometime in the spring. Members said the new line-up should be reflected in the songs.
"It was becoming a more keyboard, piano, organ and synth-based band," Wall said. "[Former member] Jack played mostly acoustic guitar, and it wasn't really fit for the music anymore. Everything is on good terms, we still hang out and everything, but it definitely worked out for everybody."
Wall said the head of Prairie Queen Records, Bill Orner, is a big figure in the Scranton music scene who has organized concert festivals and other events before staring the new label.
Williams also noted that working with a label could help the band, which traditionally has focused less on promotion and merchandise.
Previously, the band's recording consisted of Williams and O'Hara recording and then overdubbing other instruments, Williams said. The re-recorded versions of songs for the EP allowed the band to all play together and to use a real piano instead of a keyboard -- a more authentic sound that Williams said helps the piano-based band.
"It's definitely a little bit weirder than some of the stuff we have now. We mess around more with noise tracks and stuff like that," Williams said.
