Even the largest Bryce Jordan Center crowd of the season was not enough to help Penn State as Michigan State stormed into Happy Valley Saturday afternoon and dominated the host Nittany Lions in every aspect of the game.
The Spartans (16-4, 3-2 Big Ten) were simply too quick and too aggressive as they outclassed Penn State (10-8, 1-4 Big Ten) and ran away with a 91-64 victory.
Michigan State jumped out to a 45-23 halftime lead and stayed in control throughout the entire contest. The 22-point halftime deficit was the largest the Lions have faced all season and proved to be insurmountable.
The Spartans' Drew Neitzel led all scorers with 28 points, while Penn State was paced by sophomore forward Jamelle Cornley, who poured in 21 points in the loss.
At halftime former Penn State football standouts, and current Kansas City Chiefs, Tamba Hali and Larry Johnson made an appearance at mid-court and received a standing ovation from the previously silent crowd.
