NEWS

Plans for the revitalization of the Urban Village are back in the works after meeting resistance from residents last month.

Members from the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) are still acting as a voice of Penn State students, despite being replaced by the University Park Undergraduate Association this year.

Following recent minimum wage increases in more than half of all states, including Pennsylvania, Congress met last week to raise the standard to $7.25 nationally.

When students return to their residence halls after winter break and discover that something was stolen, their first instinct is to assume it was stolen over winter break, while the residence halls were locked down.

Proposed legislation could shed more light on how Penn State spends tuition and tax dollars.

A bloody rubber glove found next to the body of a Penn State senior fatally stabbed 93 times in June yielded two DNA profiles -- the victim's and former Penn State football player LaVon Chisley's, police said.

Carlotta Walls LaNier made history for doing what has now become a routine task for any teenager -- she went to school.

Sam Marvit has been Moroccan and Polish his entire life. However, yesterday, for just a few minutes, he was instantly transformed into a person of White, Asian, Hispanic, Indian and Middle Eastern descent.

He was there from the very beginning.

More than 700 students who thought they might be able to move out of supplemental housing by the start of this semester may have to wait a bit longer.

SPORTS

On paper, the Penn State men's basketball roster (10-6, 1-2 Big Ten), littered with juniors and seniors, seems to be the makeup of a veteran squad led by several experienced upperclassmen.

Entering the season No. 11 in the country, the expectations for Nathan Galloway were high. Then his rank, along with those expectations, quickly fell, resulting in the fifth-year senior leaving the No. 10 Penn State wrestling team, Galloway and head coach Troy Sunderland confirmed yesterday.

The Penn State ACHA Division I Icers stormed into winter break as the No. 2 team in the nation, compiling an 18-3-0 record in the first half of the season while dropping only one game to an ACHA opponent.

If there is one player on the Penn State women's basketball team who best reflects the highs and lows of the 2006-07 season, it would be guard Kam Gissendanner.
