Senior Nathan Galloway left the Penn State wrestling team earlier today, according to a press release from the Penn State Athletic Department. No reason was given by the press release for Galloway's departure.
Galloway cited miscommunication between the coaching staff and himself and a desire to transfer to another school to wrestle out the semester. He said he plans on returning to Penn State to graduate.
In competition this season, Galloway held a record of 14-7 in the 157-pound weight class.
The State College native has struggled at times this season. During the pre-season Penn State Wrestle-Offs, Galloway failed to live up to his No. 13 national ranking, losing two out of three matches in the intra-squad meet.
According to the press release, Galloway will be eligible to transfer to another institution to compete.
