New evidence in Chisley case

Collegian Staff Writer

New evidence pointing to former Penn State football player LaVon Chisley in the murder of a Penn State senior in June was revealed today through the criminal complaint filed by the Commonwealth Sunday.

A bloody, thick, black glove found just feet from Langston Carraway's body in his residence, 110 Northbrook Lane, yielded DNA evidence tying Chisley, 23, to the crime scene, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint indicates that the DNA found on the glove matches both Chisley's and Carraway's; Carraway's DNA was found on the outside of the glove, and the only DNA recovered on the inside of the glove was Chisley's.

The DNA results were just one piece of evidence the Commonwealth put forward in the criminal complaint, which led to Chisley being charged with first- and third-degree murder Monday. He was arrested today after he voluntarily turned himself in to Patton Township police at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.

A bloody shoe print was observed on the carpet of Carraway's apartment, according to the criminal complaint. It was measured at about 13 inches long and compared to a shoe, reportedly belonging to Chisley, at the crime scene; it also measured 13 inches long, the complaint states.

Carraway was found dead on June 5 with 93 stab wounds along with other arm injuries that were categorized by the Centre County Coroner's office as defensive wounds, according to court documents.

Chisley's preliminary hearing will be held at the county courthouse at 9 a.m. Jan. 26.
