Brown earns award after double-doubles
Senior post player Amanda Brown claimed her first career Big Ten Player of the Week award after averaging a double-double in two games last week. She is the first Lady Lion to win the conference's weekly accolade since junior guard Kamela Gissendanner was the Big Ten Player of the Week Dec. 5, 2005. In a 1-1 week for the Lady Lions, Brown posted two double-doubles and averaged 16.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
Brown led the Lady Lions to a near upset win over No. 6/8 Ohio State (63-61) Thursday night as she notched her sixth double-double of the season with game-highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. The senior also blocked a career-high seven shots in the loss, which is tied for third on the Penn State single-game rejections list. In Sunday's 65-51 win over Michigan, Brown contributed her career-high seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds. She also had two blocks and dished out four assists to reach the 100-assist mark for her career.
