When I read Kanis Glaewketgarn's comments ("Police ask bookstores to check students' IDs," Dec. 14) on checking IDs at the bookstore buybacks, I just smiled.
He obviously does not realize what it is like to have a book taken and sold back to the store without being caught.
While it's great that he and nobody he knows had to experience that, I wasn't so lucky.
Last semester, I eagerly anticipated selling an $80 book back to get some much-needed cash.
When it came time to do so, I realized that my book was missing.
What most likely happened is that I left it somewhere on campus, and someone took it and sold it back.
When I was checking lost-and-founds and was informed of this possible scenario, I was more than a little surprised that it could even happen.
Photo IDs should absolutely be required to prevent thefts.
I am all for this new policy, and I hope that nobody else will have to deal with this situation like I had to.
