Students report computers stolen
Three laptop computers and other electronic equipment were stolen sometime Wednesday afternoon from a student apartment on the 800 block of Bellaire Avenue, the State College Police Department said. While a resident was sleeping, an unknown person broke in through the front door and stole about $3,500 worth of electronic equipment, police said. The incident is under investigation, police said.
Police: Drunken man drives into yard
The State College Police Department said it responded to an alcohol-related vehicle accident at about 3:20 a.m. yesterday after a 28-year-old Centre Hall resident drove his vehicle into a yard in the 100 block of Boalsburg Road. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, police said. Pending the results of blood alcohol tests, charges of driving under the influence may be pending, police said.
State College Police Sgt. Keith Robb said this is the 441st DUI arrest at night in 2006, 10 more than the record number in 2003.
Fraternity reports damage to vehicles
A side mirror was broken off a vehicle parked at 225 E. Foster Ave. and thrown at another vehicle's windshield parked nearby sometime Wednesday afternoon, the State College Police Department said. The owners of the damaged vehicles, members of Zeta Psi fraternity, reported the incident at about 7 p.m. Police said they believe members of another fraternity might be responsible for the incident.
Police report pedestrian, car collision
Penn State University Police reported that an undergraduate student pedestrian who was not in a crosswalk was hit by a car near the intersection of Pollock and Shortlidge roads. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for "minor injuries," police said.
