Letter to the Editor
Praying for a miracle

I have been keeping up on the stories and the editorials in your paper since the day we were informed of the horrific accident which has left us unable to know what the future holds for Michael, as he remains in critical condition at Geisinger Trauma Center ("Student critical after collision," Dec. 4). His mother, Bernadette, has not left his side since she arrived at the hospital after being told by officers who arrived at her front door in the middle of the night of her son's accident. Mistakes are made every day and in most cases they are avoidable.

How many times are we reminded of the tragedies caused by destructive decisions? I urge anyone who may entertain the idea of underage drinking or driving while intoxicated to realize the pain and suffering caused by these irresponsible actions. In this situation many lives have been changed forever, and obviously not for the good. In the blink of an eye, future dreams have been shattered and tears of sadness may continue to flow indefinitely. I know that these words have been proclaimed before, but they are worth repeating in hopes of at least reaching one conscience. Our family is praying for a different Christmas miracle this year as others prepare for the Birth of Jesus. Our focus is on the return of Michael to his family. Prayer is powerful and the family of Michael Drauch would appreciate any prayers dedicated to his recovery.
