NEWS

Conservative columnist and author David Limbaugh spoke to a crowd of about 60 students last night in the Kern Building, discussing what he called a current "suppression and demonization" of Christians in American culture.

Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America, spoke last night in the Palmer Museum of Art, addressing tensions and dynamics concerning religious issues within the North American Muslim community.

Following this semester's classroom food ban, a new policy will charge non-credit courses and student groups 25 cents per square foot of a general-purpose classroom if the space is left out of order.

After a five-hour hearing yesterday, the attorney for Anthony Torsell, a Penn State student accused of hitting two men while driving under the influence, said the evidence against his client is overwhelming.

When students return for the spring semester, the HUB-Robeson Center's dining area will look a little different and include a few more corporate labels.

Shouts of "No nuts on the chicken!" and questions like, "Do the crab cakes get any sauce?" bounced around the busy kitchen at Café Laura. A line cook glazed a steak with a three-mushroom sherry sauce and carefully arranged fried onion straws on top while a few servers waited, hands on their hips, to deliver the food to their guests in the dining room.

SPORTS

Champions are made in the off-season.

No league can make the Penn State men's basketball team sweat more than the America East Conference.

At halftime, with his team down four points and very much in last night's game, Hartford coach Dan Leibovitz thought his team was capable of being the aggressor for the rest of the game.

From the 1982-83 season until 1991, the Penn State women's basketball team was a member of the Atlantic 10 conference. When Penn State (5-5) joined, head coach Rene Portland was in her second year with the Lady Lions and seventh overall.

Ate until the explosion point on Thanksgiving? Check.

There's more that can turn a Penn State sophomore into a pig besides unlimited buffets at the dinning commons.

Like many other students, Lisa Torphy (junior-public relations), an Orchesis Dance Company member, is going abroad next semester. Torphy said she's excited about seeing a different country and experiencing a different way of life, but she also has some reservations as well.

What is the controversy surrounding the trademark name, Budweiser?

One of the most beloved children's book series is coming to center stage at the Playhouse Theatre for the entertainment of children, adults and college students alike.

Students wishing to learn more about the Darfur genocide in Sudan can educate themselves at benefit events this week, starting with tonight's fundraising concert at the Tall Shiva Hookah Lounge.

This weekend, the usual smells of the Agricultural Arena will be replaced with more pleasant odors.

The Bullet Parade's Jeff Van Fossan is nothing if not modest. "That's not necessary," he said when asked to answer questions for a band profile.

Casey Crescenzo is, in a word, ambitious -- artistically, at least.
