The Price is Right obsession spans decades.
I was thrilled to read the letter "Price is Right obsession out of control on campus" (Dec. 1) regarding the students' "morbid obsession" with watching The Price is Right during lunch hour in Simmons commons. It was literally the first Collegian I'd read in decades.
I graduated from Penn State in accounting and subsequently spent a year of academic purgatory in graduate studies at William & Mary pursuing a career in medicine.
Despite my advanced years (I was 22), I too spent my one and only opportunity to relax for an hour each day watching Bob Barker and his girls with my lunch. For me, it was a necessity.
I'd like to think it was my one escape from reality and three science labs per day; more likely, however, it was the need to see Diane in her bathing suit on a daily basis. Thank God for those beach prizes.
Like the writer, I've matured and now spend my quality time watching CNN and ESPN. It's nice to know, however, that some things never change.
