Collegian Staff Writer

Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Fawcett had 13 kills in the Penn State women's volleyball team's 3-0 (30-20, 30-12, 30-19) win over Hofstra in the second of the NCAA Tournament in Rec Hall tonight.

The Nittany Lions (30-2) were led by Fawcett and freshman outside hitter Megan Hodge again paced the strong left side attack. Penn State finished with a .383 hitting percentage while Hofstra (24-7) managed -.030.

But perhaps even more impressive was Penn State block. As a team, Penn State had season-high-tying 21 blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Christa Harmotto had 11 total blocks and junior middle hitter Melissa Walbridge had seven blocks.

Hofstra was led by sophomore outside hitter Lauren Engle who had nine kills at a .083 clip.

The win pushes the third-seeded Lions to the NCAA regionals in Seattle, where they will meet Big Ten foe Purdue (23-10).
