I am so surprised to continue to see this "divide" between students and alumni at Beaver Stadium. As an alumna for several years, I have sat in section WJ and, believe me, it is just as loud as any student section at any other Big Ten university.
We may not stand the entire game, but we are definitely vocal.
If students would like to really see a quiet stadium, they need to head to Ann Arbor. I did my graduate work at the University of Michigan, and for a stadium that boasts more than 110,000 people in the small seats in their stadium, this is the quietest stadium in the Big Ten.
There is a section of alumni who do nothing. I was at the infamous Colorado game with Kordell Stewart and the Hail Mary. In the student section, I could hear individually the 2,000 or so Colorado fans. That's how quiet that stadium was.
Penn State alumni support the wave, Zombie Nation, as well as other traditions in the stadium. We may not stand for every play, but that does not mean we are not involved in the game.
Let's work together, students, to support our team and not divide ourselves! After all We Are (Students)... Penn State (Alums). And can we please not forget the "Thank You" and "You're Welcome"?
