Penn State to get a taste of 'Tater'
Ron White, the comedian known as “Tater Salad” from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, will perform at the BJC this winter.

For The Collegian

On Feb. 9, Ron White will do his best to "fix stupid" with a stand-up comedy performance at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Presale tickets will be available today at noon at a discounted price of $22 for students, faculty and staff, and general tickets are $39.75.

According to Bernie Punt, director of sales and marketing at BJC, marks the first time in years that discounted tickets are available for faculty and staff in addition to students.

Ron White, who is also referred to as "Tater Salad," is best known for his appearance with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

He performed among other Southern comedy acts such as Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy.

With the title of his show "You Can't Fix Stupid," White's humor is a mix of sarcasm and jokes about the stupidity of others.

According to Punt, White's previous success at the Bryce Jordan Center a few years ago was what prompted another appearance from "Tater Salad."

Punt said that White's appearance should excite many Penn State students and provide a fun Friday night before the next weekend's Interfraternity/Panhellenic Dance Marathon activities.

"It's a tremendous night to have comedy," Punt said.

"Having it the week before Thon worked out perfectly. If we look at how he did last time he was here at Penn State, we'll have a successful evening."

Fans said they enjoy White not only for his sense of humor but his onstage persona.

"Scotch-drinking, smoking cigars, his accent ... everything is hilarious," Natalie Blasco (senior-kinesiology) said. "My friends and I saw him before on tour, and we had a great time. We'll definitely see him again."

Kyle Shultz (freshman-marketing) is also a fan of White's laid-back humor.

"I like his laid-back personality. As long as I don't have exams, I'll most definitely be there," Shultz said.

Tickets are discounted with a valid Penn State ID.

They are available at Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, Eisenhower Auditorium, the Downtown Theatre Center or the Altoona Campus ticket outlet.
