PSU is taking strides for minority access

In a way I'm happy that this report ("Report: PSU fails minority access," Nov. 28) came out.

I do not know the intricacies of the study, but I do believe that Penn State could be doing a lot better with recruitment and especially the retention of minority students, particularly black and Hispanic students.

In my opinion, there are only three ways to rate a situation like this: good, bad and worse.

Currently I think Penn State is doing bad in dealing with minority access, but it could be worse and certainly could be better.

Overall, I think that while the report may, in fact, be misleading in certain areas, the overall message that Penn State needs to do a lot more for minorities is very accurate.

I do not know how much support it will take for minorities to achieve on the same level as their counterparts, but I do believe that Penn State is moving in the right direction - a little slow, but in the right direction.
