Cassada requests transfer, lower bail
Penn State student David Cassada will have a hearing Dec. 12 to request a lower bail in order to be transferred to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psychiatric Hospital for mental health treatment. Cassada is accused of assaulting two females in their dorm rooms during the summer and of attacking a young woman in a downtown stairwell last month.
Cassada's bail was originally set at $200,000, $50,000 and $75,000 for each incident. District Judge Thomas Jordan reduced the bail to $200,000 straight bail and unsecured amounts for the other two incidents at Cassada's preliminary hearing Nov. 8. At that same hearing, Jordan denied Cassada's request to be moved from prison to a psychiatric ward. The hearing will be held at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
