Letter to the Editor
Alumni lose enthusiasm

Let me begin by saying that I love Penn State and I love Penn State football with a passion. The four years I spent at Penn State were highlighted by some great times standing in the student section of Beaver Stadium cheering my heart out. After attending the Michigan State game, I'm disheartened by the lack of enthusiasm displayed by the 80,000+ fans who aren't students. The remarks I received from the people behind me about how they wished they could see the game, when I stood up to cheer when the Penn State defense was on third down were upsetting. A stadium that seats 110,000 should be louder than any professional stadium but it isn't. Alumni need to remember just because you're no longer seated with the students, you can't stand up and scream at the top of your lungs when the team needs your support. The twelfth man is so important to Penn State football. Don't lose your passion and enthusiasm just because you're no longer a student.
