I would like to address Josh Moyer's lack of consistency in his writing about Penn State football ("Lions hope for senior day win," Nov. 17).
Moyer reported that Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton's status for Saturday's game was "uncertain."
In his weekly prediction, he suggested Stanton would have a "forgettable day" for the Spartans.
This would be correct, as his day technically was "forgettable" because he did not play.
However, I assume Moyer meant that the Penn State defense would be the cause of Stanton's poor performance.
Interestingly, in John L. Smith's weekly press conference, he stated that backup Brian Hoyer would prepare as the starter.
He also said that even if the doctors medically cleared Stanton (which they eventually did) he would recommend that Stanton not play, as it could affect and jeopardize his future.
Had Moyer actually paid attention to this press conference, my guess is that he wouldn't assume Stanton would play (which he did in his weekly prediction). I wish Collegian writers would look into the topics they are covering before writing articles and making predictions.
