Professor collides with local pastor

Piotr Berman, a Penn State associate professor of computer science and engineering, drove his bicycle into a vehicle driven by the Rev. Richard Livingston Jr., a local pastor, and received minor injuries Friday, State College police said.

Berman, 51, of State College, and Livingston, 76, of
State College, were both driving eastbound on the 1900 block
of East Branch Road when Berman attempted to turn his
bike left onto Shady Drive and hit Livingston's Mercedes, police said.

Berman broke the right mirror of the car and caused scratches and a dent in the passenger side of the car, police said. Berman suffered minor shoulder, elbow and back injuries as well as cuts from falling off his bike, police said. He was wearing a helmet and protective jacket at the time of the incident, police said. Police said Livingston transported Berman to Mount Nittany Medical Center immediately after the accident.
