Remix
Feeling dirty? Try this blast-from-the-past mix

Jonathan Kotula (senior-biochemistry and molecular biology) requested an early-90s grunge mix. What I've decided to do is focus less on the big hits--why make a mix with songs you already know?--and instead choose songs that really capture the essence of grunge.

And I'm talking rolling around on the dirty ground, getting mud caked into your flannel after five washes grunge. Why put on a pop song like "Black Hole Sun" when you can hear Soundgarden at their absolute heaviest on "4th of July"? Why put in second-wave bands when you can hear the roots of the scene start with Mudhoney and the Melvins. Hopefully this mix helps you reconsider some old favorites, and get exposed to some underrated influences.

Side A

Mudhoney - "In 'N' Out of Grace"

Local H - "Back in the Day"

Melvins - "Night Goat"

Smashing Pumpkins - "Quiet"
