Man faces potential mischief charges
A man is facing charges for allegedly smearing his feces around the foyer of a residence at 825 S. Allen St. The man was found without pants and under the influence of alcohol Saturday morning, the State College Police Department said. Police said his charges will depend on the value of damage.
Police have not yet decided if removing the feces will require biohazard equipment and personnel. Police said the man is at least facing public drunkenness and criminal mischief charges.
Council discusses low-income housing
The need for more affordable housing, the ongoing vandalism of trees in downtown areas and the 2007 Centre Region Council of Governments (COG) budget were discussed at last night's State College borough work session.
Borough council member Jeff Kern brought up the need for more housing for low-income families in the State College area.
Kevin Gombotz, Design Review Board chairman, discussed the board's plan for 2007, as well as updating the design guide that helps developers stay current with changing ordinances.
Marc McDill, vice chairman of the Tree Commission, also discussed the ongoing problem of tree vandalism in downtown regions of State College.
Alleged restaurant robbers identified
The State College Police Department released the name of the juvenile charged with four felonies in connection with the CiCi's Pizza robbery Saturday.
Donald Curtis Rockey, 17, was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft and receiving stolen property. Rockey was placed in Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $35,000 straight bail. Rockey's adult co-defendant, Jason Bowersox, 18, is also being held in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $100,000 straight bail for the same four felonies. Police said they found Bowersox driving in a car with Rockey after the incident. Inside the car police found the 9mm pistol used in the robbery and the stolen money, police said.
