Collegian article enforces stereotypes about women
I think that this article ("Study: Casual sex harmful to women," Nov. 8) about casual sex being bad for women is completely off base. Casual sex is bad for all people who have poor communication skills. The problem as stated in the article is that people think it is the beginning of a relationship for women. Also, this can be a problem for men. If there was an open amount of communication in these situations there wouldn't be a problem. Casual sex can work, if what both people want is up front. Also, this article makes it seem like these issues only affect "poor, fragile" women. Once again the Collegian reflects women in a poor light. I want to know who you interviewed and exactly how large your sample population was, because that can make a big difference. This article just perpetuated the stereotype that people have of women, which is ridiculous. Kate Daley
