A juvenile has been arrested and charged for allegedly robbing the manager of a local restaurant at gunpoint in the business's parking lot at about 12:30 a.m. yesterday.
The manager of CiCi's Pizza, 1653 N. Atherton St., was transporting the night's deposit, valued at $2,306.37, when he was approached by a hooded and masked man, according to a criminal complaint.
According to a press release from the Patton Township police, the 17-year-old juvenile pointed a 9mm pistol at the manager, whom police did not identify.
Police said the robber took the deposit and fled. About 15 minutes after the robbery, the suspect was located in a vehicle with four other occupants, according to police.
According to the press release, the juvenile was arrested for the robbery and taken to Centre County Juvenile Detention Center.
An alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Jason Bowersox, of Spring Mills, was charged with criminal conspiracy, robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was placed in Centre County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint, Patton Township police saw a suspicious car in a church parking lot on Clearview Avenue and stopped it. As soon as the vehicle was stopped, the passenger door was opened and shut, according to the criminal complaint. The passenger was also observed removing his dark colored shirt and making movements under the seat, according to police.
Bowersox, the driver, was asked to exit the car. He was checked for weapons and placed in a police car. He gave his consent for his vehicle to be searched, according to police.
Police said an unloaded Ruger 9mm pistol was found under the car where the suspect allegedly placed it when pulled over by police. Police also located $2,306.37 under the passenger seat, according to the police report.
Police also found a red bandana and dark sweatshirt matching the description of the robber's clothing in the car, according to the criminal complaint.
The restaurant manager was brought to the scene to identify the gunman. According to a police report, the passenger then told police, "I did it, the others weren't involved... I robbed that guy."
According to the criminal complaint, Bowersox admitted to police that he and the juvenile discussed robbing CiCi's while driving. Bowersox said he did not know the juvenile had a gun, according to the criminal complaint.
