About 15 members SpeakOut, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies activist group, gathered in front of the Bryce Jordan Center today to show support for student athletes.
This was the first rally at a Lady Lions game since head coach Rene Portland was found in violation of Penn State's anti-discrimination policies in April and fined $10,000.
Christina Swomley, president of SpeakOut, said her group was shifting to a more positive tone this season.
"We decided to leave Rene Portland out of this particular rally, so this is solely for the students," she said.
After the rally, some demonstrators attended the game.
