Nickelback to rock BJC

For The Collegian

Nickelback will be visiting Penn State for "all the right reasons" this March.

The All The Right Reasons tour, featuring Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, will hit the Bryce Jordan Center March 4.

Tickets go on sale today at noon for $39.50. Although ticket prices may seem a little steeper than usual, Bernie Punt, director of public relations for the BJC, said they are the cheapest tickets in the country for this particular tour.

This will be Nickleback's first time performing in Happy Valley, and Punt said the BJC is excited to be having not one, but three great alternative rock bands gracing the stage.

Over the years, Nickelback's music has appealed to listeners of pop, hard rock, alternative and metal.

"The show is going to be good, especially since the opening acts are so great. You get three talented bands in one show," Punt said.

Punt added that the bands have been touring the world, and the BJC has been trying for almost a year to book the show.

"It is very tough to book them because they are only doing a handful of dates," he said.

"The show will be held on a Sunday, which seems unusual for such a big concert, but it was either that day or no day."

The stop at Penn State will be the bands' second leg of the tour. It started this summer to promote Nickelback's new album, All the Right Reasons, released last fall.

The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Magazine's Top 200 Albums Chart the week it was released, and since then Nickelback has sold more than 3 million individual tracks of All The Right Reasons.

On Nov. 21, the band will be attending and presenting an award at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles and is up for three nominations: Album of the Year for All The Right Reasons, Best Band or Duo, and Alternative Artist of the Year.

Although the concert is months away, some students said they are already excited to see the bands perform.

Laura DeSantis (freshman-communications) said she will definitely be getting tickets to the concert.

"I used to hate them, but then I saw them live and now I am a huge fan," she said.

Rebecca Hagel (freshman-engineering) said she's excited to see them for the first time.

"I'm so glad Nickelback is coming to Penn State. Me and my friends are excited to see them perform. I haven't been to one of their concerts yet, but I heard they're really good live," she said.

Tickets for the concert are available at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, the HUB-Robeson Center, Eisenhower Auditorium and online at www.bjc.psu.edu.
