Dressed in black and red, students in the class Women, the Humanities and the Arts (WMST 003) stood in front of various locations on campus raising awareness about violent sexual crimes occurring on college campuses.
Standing in groups with three black shirts and one red shirt, they represented the statistic that one in four college women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime.
"We decided as a class that this would be more useful than just hanging up fliers," Alyssa Heraty (sophomore-supply chain management) said. "This issue is so widespread and unreported. It affects so many people."
A tape recorder played individual testimonies of how sexual assault has impacted the lives of the students demonstrating.
"It seemed the most practical and prevalent, especially on a college campus," Lee Castillo (junior-economics) said.
