As the last bracket of the NCAA Tournament appeared on the television screen, every member of the Penn State field hockey team (15-5, 4-2 Big Ten) was on the edge of her seat in the McElwain lounge.
Their fears and nerves quickly subsided, however, as the Nittany Lions found out they will take on North Carolina (13- 8, 1-4 ACC) at 2 p.m. Saturday in College Park, Maryland in the first round of the tournament.
The Lions, who received an at-large bid, played the Tar Heels once this year, beating them 2-1 on Oct. 13. If Penn State advances to the second round, it will face the winner of the first-round game between Maryland and Richmond.
