Paternoville start time extended

Collegian Staff Writer

Anyone wishing to set up a campsite at Paternoville will be allowed to do so starting at midnight on Thursday morning, students and administrators decided in a closed meeting this morning.

"They don't want to have a mad-dash start," said Mitchell Witmer-Belding, University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) vice president. He indicated that, under the new time regulation, the university hoped to have students gradually filter into the campsite throughout the day on Thursday instead of rush there all at once.

Penn State administrators mandated on Oct. 5 that students must wait until Thursdays at 6 a.m. or later to set up their campsites, meaning that today's decision will open up six additional hours of potential camping.

Today's meeting, held in Old Main, was attended by the president of the newly-formed Paternoville Coordination Committee (PCC), Jordan Cascino, and representatives from UPUA, the Division of Student Affairs, Penn State University Police and Intercollegiate Athletics.
