Fresh off of winning the Big Ten Tournament for the fourth time in school history, the No. 12 Penn State women's soccer team received a No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA National Tournament.
When the Nittany Lions first learned of their fate, a raucous cheer broke out in their locker room at Rec Hall, where the team was on hand to view the selections on ESPNews, courtesy of ESPNews anchor Dari Nowkah and ESPNews' soccer analyst Wendy Gebauer-Palladino.
Texas A&M, UCLA and Florida State were the other No. 2 seeds, while North Carolina, Texas, Santa Clara and Notre Dame collected the four No. 1 spots.
Penn State - the nine-time defending Big Ten regular-season champions - will serve as host for its first and, if necessary, second round games this weekend. Niagra will be the Lions' first-round opponent, at 5 p.m. Friday at Jeffrey Field. If victorious, they will face the winner of Toledo-Villanova on Sunday afternoon also at Jeffrey Field.
