DA office needs to throw the book at student driver

In response to "Lawyer: More facts needed" (Nov. 1), I have one question to ask of the Centre County District Attorney's office: Why aren't you throwing the book at Anthony Torsell?

Torsell was allegedly drinking underage and driving while intoxicated. According to police, he blew a .242 an hour after the accident, and he was in possession of a fake ID. He is accused of accidentally killing one man and nearly killing another, yet if his lawyers can prove he was obeying all traffic laws, he can get off with far less than a vehicular homicide charge. This kid possibly destroyed two lives, two families and could get away with practically a slap on the wrist. The DA's office might as well just say "It's OK to drink and drive and kill someone as long as you've got a green light."

Where is the justice in that, and what is the example that the DA's office and police force are sending?
