Fridays get a philanthropic twist

Collegian Staff Writer

Philanthropy Phridays, which is a new awareness program to engage and educate students about philanthropy at Penn State, kicked off today.

As part of the monthly program, the Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) hands out information and students get the chance to win a "really nice prize," Lauren Steinberg, assistant director for the office of annual giving, said. Each month the council will hand out a prize to get students thinking and reward them for their participation.

This month's giveaway is a lime green slap bracelet. In order to win the prize, students have to answer questions about philanthropy.

"The questions are pretty simple," SPC member Matt Balaban said.

There are five questions and all relate to monetary donations Penn State has received and how the donations affected Penn State and its students.

"All you have to do is answer a question and you get the coolest giveaway ever," Balaban said.
