Caucus promotes Asian American Studies

Collegian Staff Writer

The Asian Pacific American Caucus sponsored a gathering at the HUB-Robeson Center last night that included break dancing, Jeopardy and the sale of T-shirts with swear words on them.

Toni Dang, speakers coordinator for the Asian Pacific American Caucus, said the event was designed to encourage students to sign an electronic petition in support of the Sociology 197A course, Intro to Asian American Studies, and to ask Penn State to add more Asian American Studies classes and faculty.

Passers-by gathered near the information desk as Penn State dance group RAM (Raw Aesthetic Movements) Squad showed off break dance moves in the hallway.

Afterward, Ankit Shah (junior-communications arts and sciences) hosted a game of Asian Pacific American Jeopardy, and Dang sold T-shirts bearing the slogan "f--- racism."
