About 30 students attended a procrastination seminar last night, but over one-third arrived late. Of course, they were planning to come on time yet something stole their attention--maybe it was a snack, a cigarette break or a beer.

Simon Holowatz, community health educator at University Health Services, asked a room full of students last night to name two factors that would make it more likely for someone to cheat on his or her partner.

The Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon overall committee may restructure motivational and fundraising events called "mini-Thons" that have become popular at commonwealth campuses in recent years.

In June 2007, the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) will see its most significant changes in the last 15 years.

A recent investigation by Wired News found more than 700 registered sex offenders have profiles on the social networking site MySpace.com.

Gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann visited the Centre County Business Industry Expo yesterday to address voters and less than a dozen students who made the trip to Innovation Park.

A Penn State student who was arrested yesterday for allegedly attacking a young woman in a downtown apartment stairwell told police that he thought the woman was his friend and that he only wanted to scare her.

Former Enron executive Lynn Brewer said last night that the 2001 scandal that shook the corporate world was not about corruption -- it was about the hundreds of people who were complacent with that corruption.

The late-night Blue and White Loops aren't going anywhere, officials said yesterday.

Casey addresses education

Although only a small group of people came to hear former Independent candidate for governor Russ Diamond speak last night, he opened by telling those present that the size of the crowd is not what matters.

News in brief

SPORTS

There was a time when boxing was the No. 1 varsity sport at Penn State. According to the Penn State boxing Web site, the team reigned supreme at Penn State from 1923 to 1954. And while new coach Ben Davis knows boxing will not surpass the more noted sports these days, he will try his best to return the team to some level of prominence.

Heading into the 2006 season, the big question surrounding Penn State was whether a defense that lost an entire secondary and three-quarters of its defensive line could hold up through an entire Big Ten schedule, not whether the Nittany Lion offense could provide enough firepower.

There was one final thing Penn State men's basketball coach Ed DeChellis told his team before taking the court last night against Edinboro.

Lacking both size and confidence, Jay Alford prepared to leave Penn State.

It's a simple formula, take one very intense strength coach, add a demanding weight training program, slather on some peanut butter and honey, and you've got the recipe for the high expectations this season.

There really is only way to cap off a regular season Big Ten title -- winning the Big Ten tournament.

This is the last chance to prove 2006 was a mirage.

Tomorrow, the No. 6 Penn State field hockey team will have another chance at redemption as the first round of the 2006 Big Ten Tournament begins. Last year, the Nittany Lions lost their first game of the season and then proceeded to go on a 17- game win streak. They capped off the season losing three straight games and being ousted in the first rounds of the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA tournament.

ARTS

This weekend, little old ladies, Nazis, money-hungry producers and a song that speaks to the age-old saying "If you've got it, flaunt it!" will fill Eisenhower Auditorium.

What is that little plastic thing in cans and bottles of Guinness?

If being nervous for your first show in Happy Valley means eating lots of tacos, drinking margaritas and beer and hanging out with friends while watching Seinfeld, then consider the boys from Shattered Sky Productions (SSP) to be nervous.

There will be no political debates or smear campaigns going on, but tonight college students will get to rock the vote on mtvU's 2006 Woodie Awards.

We've all been there -- well at least most of us have. You went to a party at some point during the weekend and went just a bit too far. That last Solo cup sat in your hand with undying temptation over you, like your little alcoholic angel. You can't just leave without finishing what you started, how uncouth. All this races through your head, and you couldn't help but take that last gulp. Well, you should have helped it.

The Forum will be filled this weekend with crazy bombardiers, insane majors and mad psychiatrists as No Refund Theatre (NRT) brings the famous novel Catch-22 to the stage.

Tomorrow night is a night for laughs as Michael Showalter of Wet Hot American Summer and Stella hosts the Student Comedy Extravaganza in the HUB-Robeson Center's Alumni Hall.

The chart-topping All-American Rejects are invading Happy Valley to prove to students that the band's music is so good, it's bad.

Philadelphia native Bob Saget is a man of many hats. He is perhaps best know for his wholesome, clean-cut roles as the host of America's Funniest Home Videos and as Danny Tanner on Full House. More recently, he's been able to showcase the more risqué dynamic more common to his stand-up act, which can be seen in guest spots on various TV shows as well as his performance in the movie The Aristocrats. In his newest venture, he's hosting NBC's new game show, 1 vs. 100, which airs Friday night at 8.

Between the public embarrassment of getting pelted in dodgeball to awkwardly changing clothes amongst a jury of peers, the memories taken from high school gym class, at least for some, would rather be forgotten.

State College band Cloverleaf will be heard by a national audience tonight when its music is used in the mtvU Woodie Awards. The band was one of six college groups whose music was selected for use during the awards show, set to air tonight on mtvU at 8.

For those who aren't going to the All-American Rejects concert tonight but are still in the mood to hear music, Peter Mulvey will be performing tonight as part of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County (UUFCC) Concert Series.
