Rendell 'terrible' for PSU
So Governor Ed Rendell claims he has done so much good in the past four years for Pennsylvania. Note the key word there being "claims." Here are the facts about what Rendell claims to have done: Tuition at Penn State has increased every single year that he has been in office, and what is his excuse for that? "The large deficit I was left with when I took office," he says. There are dozens of other state-related schools that haven't increased their tuition $4,000 in the four years since Rendell took over with no end to the tuition hike in sight. And Rendell claims that this happened because of the deficit he inherited. Isn't four years long enough to get rid of any so-called "deficits"? Secondly, Rendell set forth his plan for alternative energy sources for the future of Pennsylvania. That is all well and good, but the future is a long ways off, so why is Rendell going to implement a gas tax in Pennsylvania next year if he's reelected? Is it because he needs the extra money because he's increased the state's budget exponentially every year since he took office? Bingo. And don't give me the argument that he has "balanced the budget" every year he's been governor. That is misleading because it is a state law that the budget must be balanced every year. The Pennsylvania Democrats think that just because Rendell stands up on his soapbox and preaches his good doings that everything is true and that he's a great leader for Pennsylvania. The truth of the matter is that, when you look at what Rendell has actually done, he is terrible for Penn State and for Pennsylvania on the whole. Kevin Andrews
