After being postponed Friday, the third-annual PA Political Hip-Hop Convention at Penn State, hosted by Represent Penn State in coordination with the Pittsburgh League of Young Voters, began yesterday to address ways to encourage the hip-hop generation to get out and vote.
A panel discussion kicked off the events around 11 a.m. in the HUB Heritage Hall that examined the role of hip hop in politics and how to build a youth voting bloc.
In the afternoon, informational sessions took place on the second floor of the Williard Building, including a lecture on organizational alliance building by Pittsburgh League of Young Voters director Khari Mosley and a presentation on running an effective Election Day program by campaign organizer David Dix.
More sessions are planned for today beginning at around 10:30 a.m. in Heritage Hall.
