Letter to the Editor
Error corrected by letter

I wonder if Victoria Schwoebel ("Letter lacks sympathy for assault victim," Oct. 25) even read Trevor Crowser's original letter to the editor ("Paternoville assault story presents blurry information," Oct. 23).

He did not say that the girl was "obviously not assaulted."

He said she was "obviously not assaulted in Paternoville."

He was not blaming the victim for changing the meaning of Paternoville, he was blaming the reporter.

He did not say that it's OK for Michigan fans to be assaulted, and he didn't minimize the attack.

He did do a public service by pointing out that an assault occurred outside a stadium gate on game day.

For someone who didn't read the article closely, this wasn't readily apparent.

Crowser also prevented a new tradition from being cast in a negative light unnecessarily.

Assaults should not be taken lightly, but they should be presented truthfully.

The correction of this error did not minimize the attack in any way.
