Charges refiled in alleged snake theft

Centre County Assistant District Attorney Nathan Boob said yesterday that he plans to refile charges against a Penn State student who Boob claims killed the pet snake of a fellow student.

Boob said charges of theft and criminal mischief will be filed for a second time against Baren Berg, 21.

Berg was previously charged for the same crime, but a judge dismissed the charges at his preliminary hearing Wednesday, saying there was not enough evidence to support the theft charge.

Boob opted to have both charges dropped so he could refile the theft charge.
