Letter to the Editor
Bush only cares about oil

Who indicated the Iraqi government (democracy) is going to work?

The fitting question is: how long will it take to work?

Democracy took us hundreds of years to perfect - and look at our system today - we all agree it is flawed.

In our hundreds of years - we had a civil war, discriminated based on sex, color and creed, and as the topping on the cake - committed countless atrocities.

As the model for Iraq we are the pot calling the kettle black at this juncture - which is unique because that pot is almost drained of the abundance of oil it used to house, but the kettle is apparently still full.

The U.S. does not care what transpires in Iraq - except for two words - oil security. So before you think Bush and Cheney give a damn about the Iraqi people you may want to think again.

You can't really blame them though, can you? I mean - you still love to drive your SUV, have your thermostat set at 75 during winter, and God forbid you give up the air conditioning during the summer months (totally nasty, right?).

I wish you all luck in 100 years finding the planet that will sustain our wasteful lives (and yes I am guilty to an extent as well, but I at least try).

Whoops. Forgot. Who cares about them? Global warming? Whatever.

Change has to start somewhere; we are the 'world's moral authority,' so let's act like it.
