Pedestrian hit on College Avenue
A pedestrian who was crossing College Avenue at Burrowes Street around 10 p.m. last night was hit by a turquious Ford Taurus LX with Pennsylvania plates. The car appeared to be turning left onto College Avenue from Burrowes Street. The State College Police Department would not release specific details on the pedestrian's condition, but he was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for medical treatement.
Parade route closed to vehicular traffic
Today's homecoming parade route will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 p.m. until the parade's conclusion, according to the Penn State Web site live.psu.edu.
Westbound traffic on East College Avenue will be detoured to Park Avenue via University Drive. Traffic will then head west on Park Avenue to Atherton Street.
Parking along the route will also be restricted, and parked car owners must remove their vehicles on College Avenue before the parade begins.
Students and employees parked in access-point areas to the parade route should either remove their vehicles by 6 p.m. or leave them parked for the duration of the parade. Check live.psu.edu for a list of these areas.
Parking lot Red A, East Parking Deck and Eisenhower Deck parking areas will be available for use by parade-goers after 4 p.m.
The campus shuttle service will stop at 5 p.m. today because of the parade, and routes for the White and Blue Loops will be altered. Check catabus.com for all bus-related info.
To help facilitate rush-hour traffic flow and begin closing the parade route, Penn State University Police will be stationed along the route at 5 p.m.
Additionally, university police will control traffic along Curtin Road to maintain the movement of the Red and Green Links, which will be running on normal routes delays are expected.
Construction on I-80 to cause delays
PennDOT is warning motorists traveling on Interstate 80 through Centre County this weekend to take alternate routes.
PennDOT said construction will be causing lane closures and lengthy delays through next week from Clinton County through Milesburg and on Snowshoe Mountain. Shoulder work will also be taking place between exit 158 and mile marker 152.
