"They remind me of the '80s band The Lemonheads, but they are a lot more rocking than the bands of the '80s. They have a punkier attitude," Van Fossan said. "They have female vocals with male harmonies, which I think is really cool."
Although Locksley, the other band expected to play, may not be able to make it to the show, Roustabout! Organizer Jesse Ruegg said he thinks the show should be really good.
Chris Punsalan, The iOs singer/guitarist, said that the band is extremely excited to be performing at its first Roustabout!
"We're looking for people with an open mind to music. We're from New York where there is a plethora of bands, and we're trying to stand out and forge our own sound," he said.
The iOs, whose name refers to the interplay of ones and zeros of the digital age, met through mutual friends while working at desk jobs in the music industry.
"It was kind of like a music-related Office Space," Punsalan said.
The band, which also includes Autumn Proemm an keyboard and vocals, CJ Amodeo on bass, Chris Brocco on guitar and samples, and Paul Mauceri on drums, released a new EP, called Resident Alien, last spring. The band is currently on a mini-tour around the Midwest. The band members are working on new songs, and, depending on how last night's rehearsal went, they said they might even play a few at the concert.
Punsalan described their music as indie-pop with an emphasis on male and female vocals.
"We try to mix it up, create something new. We balance [synthetic] pop with guitar-heavy indie rock," he said.
Van Fossan said if Locksley ends up not being able to make it tonight, a "super secret all-star band of some sort" will be sent as a replacement.
