Morelli, Clark possible for this weekend

Collegian Staff Writer

Penn State starting quarterback Anthony Morelli suffered a mild concussion against Michigan Saturday and is "possible" for this weekend's game against Illinois, according to Penn State information director Jeff Nelson.

Backup Daryll Clark also suffered a mild concussion, Nelson said, and is also listed as possible.

Morelli was hurt on his first pass attempt of the second half when Michigan defensive tackle Alan Branch appeared to hit the junior signal caller helmet-to-helmet.

Morelli spent several minutes on his back before walking off the field on his own power. He did not re-enter the game, but did not go to the hospital, Nelson said Sunday.

Clark suffered his concussion midway through the fourth quarter.

If neither Morelli nor Clark can play this weekend, sophomore Paul Cianciolo, who led Penn State's final two drives against Michigan would likely get the start at quarterback.

Neither Morelli nor his father, Greg Morelli, have returned phone calls seeking comment.
