As a member of the LGBTA community, I would like to commend Jesse Mowry for his letter "LGBTA community articles offend Penn State student" (Oct. 13) about how the LGBTA activists are crossing the line. Using the word "fag" is offensive and sends mixed signals about the messages they are trying to get across to the student body. Just as the feminists are reclaiming deragatory words for women, the gay community is trying to reclaim "fag." Instead of attempting to redefine a word of hate as a word of pride, we should never use them because we all know that ignoring issues makes the problem go away. Featuring articles every week is an obnoxious ploy to make the public actually realize the injustices that are inflicted. Are equal rights that any human being deserves really that important? The LGBTA should stay silent and complacent, just like a good wife should stay to her husband. So, thank you, Jesse. Thank you for standing up for the offended heterosexuals who are tired of hearing about oppression.
