A hoard of women in wedding dresses whited out downtown State College before Saturday's game against the University of Michigan.

Bride Blitz 2006 was a promotional tool for nittanyweddings.com, an all-inclusive wedding resource serving the Centre region. After being fitted for gowns inside Sozo, 256 E. Beaver Avenue, the "brides" marched downtown to gain awareness for the Web site.

"Everything went great," Christine Eveleth, owner of nittanyweddings.com said. "It was amazing to see all the girls and the reactions of people downtown."

Gowns used in the blitz were provided by Simply Elegant Gowns of State College and will be donated to charities locally and globally.

"We had a few no shows but it didn't matter how many came," Eveleth said. "It was such a large crowd people thought we were taking part in the white out. It was incredible."
