Both students -- a bicyclist and a motorist -- who collided at the intersection of Pollock and Shortlidge roads Wednesday night were issued traffic citations for running a stop sign.
Daniel Reynolds, 22, who is no longer listed as a patient at Mount Nittany Medical Center, was biking on Pollock Road toward McElwain Hall when Penn State University Police said he collided with a vehicle driven by Andy Song, 23.
Reynolds was taken to the hospital after police said he sustained injuries to his head, shoulders and legs.
Song (junior-hotel, restaurant and institution management) said that on the night of the accident that he had just dropped off a friend in Pollock Halls and was making a left turn from Pollock Road onto Shortlidge Road when the accident happened.
Song did not have any injuries following the accident.
University Police Assistant Director Tyrone Parham said that both of the students had stop signs at the intersection. Based on witness testimony, police concluded neither stopped.
Parham said Reynolds' bike did not have a light on it, which is required for students who ride at night. He also said Reynolds was not wearing a helmet.
Dave Melchiore (sophomore-information sciences and technology) said Wednesday night he saw Reynolds hit the windshield and flip in the air before landing on his head and then his shoulders.
Melchiore said Reynolds was covered in blood and was not moving, though he said he looked conscious.
Parham said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
