Students 'come out' for rally

Collegian Staff Writer

Members of the Penn State lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and ally community (LGBTA) gathered at noon today for the annual National Coming Out Day rally on the steps of Old Main.

About 100 people came to listen to speakers share their personal stories about coming out.

Speakers at the rally included Jay Chamberlin, a candidate in today's UPUA presidential election and Alix Olson, a gay activist-artist who will be performing at 7 p.m. today in the HUB.

Chamberlin said he was at the rally to show his support for the community and not to talk about his campaign.

"I was so inspired by all of you," he said.
