Assembly looks to work with UPUA

Members of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Academic Assembly approved Shawn Gordon as the chairman of the Constitutional Convention at their meeting last night.

Gordon said his logic will aid him in his role as chairman of the convention.

"My main goal is to improve the design and structure of USG," Gordon said.

Ricardo Torres, Assembly president, also addressed concerns about the role of the organization in the UPUA elections. The Academic Assembly remains the academic voice of the student body, he said.

"UPUA could have a lot of potential," he said.

"Once the dust clears from their elections, I would be willing to sit down with the academic chair of the UPUA and work with them," Torres added.

Members of the Academic Assembly will continue to represent students in the Faculty Senate, Torres said.

The members also approved Jessica Yoon (sophomore-business administration) for the position of vice president of operations for the Academic Assembly.

The Schreyer Honors College Student Council is starting a tutoring program tailored for honors classes.

More details will be available at a later date, said Kate Ormsby, an assembly member.
